Apple Launches New AirTag With Bigger Range and Louder Alerts

Apple has introduced an updated version of its popular AirTag tracker that makes it easier to find your lost stuff with improved range, louder sound, and smarter tracking features.

The new AirTag keeps the compact design that users are familiar with but packs upgraded internal hardware that enhances how well it works with Apple’s Find My network. With a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, the device can guide you to your items from up to about 50 percent farther away using haptic, visual, and audio feedback. That means you can track things like keys, bags, or luggage with more confidence even when they are farther out of sight.

Alongside the expanded location range, Apple boosted the AirTag’s speaker volume by roughly 50 percent and added a distinctive new chime to make alerts easier to hear from across a room. The Bluetooth connection has also been improved to extend the distance over which the tracker can be detected. For the first time, Apple Watch users with Series 9 or later or an Ultra 2 or later model can use Precision Finding directly from their wrist, adding another way to pinpoint lost items without needing to pull out an iPhone.

Privacy and security remain core to how AirTag works. Location data is never stored on the device itself, and encrypted communication with the Find My network helps ensure that only the owner can access the tracker’s location. Anti-tracking protections and rotating Bluetooth identifiers are designed to prevent misuse or unwanted tracking.

The refreshed AirTag is available now at the same familiar prices: $29 for a single unit or $99 for a four-pack. It is compatible with existing AirTag accessories, and users can customize their devices with engraved text or symbols when ordering.

By extending range, enhancing audio alerts, and broadening device compatibility, this second-generation AirTag aims to make everyday item tracking even more reliable and user friendly.
