Apple is finally making a proper smart home display. HomeView pairs a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen with a domed speaker base, and it’s built to be the hub for music, FaceTime calls, and smart home control. Pre-orders are open now, with availability starting November 13.
The big idea is that one screen can feel personal to everyone in the house. HomeView recognizes up to six people by their face, and each person gets their own Home Screen with apps and widgets. Content from Messages, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My only shows up when the enrolled user is recognized and their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and recently unlocked. Shared photo albums and music stay open to everyone, guests included.
Under the hood is Siri AI, a completely rebuilt version of Siri that Apple calls far more capable and conversational, with broad world knowledge and onscreen awareness. Pair HomeView with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and it can also pull from your personal context, like your Calendar and Messages. Even without one, you still get the general knowledge, natural conversation, and better music discovery. Conversations that start on HomeView can continue in the Siri app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or Vision Pro. Siri AI is launching in beta in English only.
The hardware is a stainless steel hinge connecting the display to an aluminum base, so it tilts to suit tabletops of any height. It comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray with a matching USB-C cable. Brightness runs from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits for nightstand use, and the interface shows simpler info from across the room and more detail as you step closer. Sound comes from two full-range drivers in the display, plus a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators in the base, with computational audio tuning loudness and bass in real time.
There’s also a separate wall-mounted model in space gray and silver, with the same display and features. It uses one of three mounts from Schneider Home, and you can self-install or go the professional route.
A few things you can do with it:
- Entertainment: Apple Music with animated album art and lyrics, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Apple TV, and compatible third-party apps. Multiroom audio works with other HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini, and AirPlay speakers, and Handoff lets you continue a song by holding your iPhone up to the screen.
- Staying connected: FaceTime with Center Stage, Messages by voice or onscreen keyboard, Intercom across HomeView and HomePod speakers, and Find My for people and items.
- In the kitchen: It turns web recipes into step-by-step instructions with hands-free timers and ingredient tracking.
- Customizable faces: Photos, Flow, an animated Snoopy, and more.
For smart home control, HomeView handles cameras, thermostats, lights, locks, and blinds by touch or voice. The Home Camera face can stream up to nine feeds at once. With a supported iCloud+ plan, it works with compatible cameras for encrypted recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages, and vehicles, and can summarize HomeKit Secure Video clips so you don’t have to watch them. It also listens for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and alerts your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. It works with Matter accessories and Apple’s new Home Collection of cameras, thermostats, and a lock built with LG and Schneider Electric, which arrives starting in December, with select accessories in early 2027.
Privacy is a major pitch. Camera and microphone data is processed in Secure Exclaves on the A18 chip, which Apple says can’t be accessed by the software, apps, the user, or Apple. Siri requests use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute.
