Dell’s New XPS Googlebook Is the First XPS Laptop Made for Android Power Users

Dell just introduced the XPS Googlebook, and it’s a genuinely new direction for the XPS line—a 13-inch premium laptop built from the ground up around Google’s Googlebook platform and Gemini Intelligence, rather than Windows.

The design still feels unmistakably XPS: a solid aluminum chassis at just 2.2 lbs and 12.7mm thin, a backlit chiclet keyboard, and a glass touchpad that’s quiet and precise. The star of the show is the 2.5K InfinityEdge touch display, which covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, hits 500 nits of brightness (so it stays readable outdoors), and uses a variable refresh rate that shifts between 30Hz and 120Hz depending on what you’re doing—smooth when it matters, battery-friendly when it doesn’t.

Under the hood, it’s running a Snapdragon X Elite processor with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a built-in NPU for on-device AI tasks. Dell’s claiming up to 16 hours of Netflix streaming on a single charge, helped along by a dual-fan cooling system that keeps things quiet during longer sessions.

The bigger pitch here is really the software side. Gemini Intelligence is baked in throughout, including a feature called Magic Pointer that turns a simple cursor wiggle into a way to summon Gemini on the spot. Gemini also runs proactively in the background, surfacing suggestions and handling tasks even when the laptop’s closed.

If you’re deep in the Android ecosystem, the phone integration is where this laptop really tries to differentiate itself. You can view, search, and drag in files, photos, and downloads straight from your Android phone without manual transfers, and notifications and messages stay synced across both devices. Android apps also run natively on the laptop without needing separate installs.

There’s also a small but distinctive design touch: the Glowbar, a lid indicator that shows your battery life and charging status at a glance, even when the laptop’s closed.

Pricing: The Dell XPS Googlebook starts at $999 and is available today through Best Buy and Google Stores, with Dell.com getting it in October.
