Samsung just dropped its newest foldable, and it’s easily one of the most refined devices in the Galaxy Z lineup to date. The Galaxy Z Fold7 isn’t just an incremental upgrade, it’s a full-fledged redesign that’s slimmer, lighter, and loaded with next-gen AI tools that make last year’s Fold6 look a bit, well, dated.
One of the biggest changes is the design itself. Samsung shaved down the Fold7’s profile significantly. When closed, the phone is just 8.9 mm thick, and it unfolds to a wafer-thin 4.2 mm, making it around 25–30% slimmer than its predecessor. At 215 grams, it’s also lighter in hand, thanks to the new Armor FlexHinge, a stronger Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, and upgraded materials like Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and Victus 2. Durability and style are both getting a serious boost here.
The display is also seeing some love. The main screen now stretches to a generous 8.0 inches, using Dynamic AMOLED 2X tech with a buttery-smooth 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits of brightness — great for use outdoors. The cover screen also gets an upgrade: it’s now 6.5 inches with a more practical 21:9 aspect ratio, making it easier to type, scroll, and use on the go. Both displays include Samsung’s Vision Booster, which automatically adjusts brightness and contrast for clearer viewing in bright conditions.
On the camera front, Samsung has pulled in some serious flagship DNA. The Fold7 features a 200 MP main sensor, the same one you’ll find on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, along with a 10 MP telephoto lens (with 3x optical zoom) and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. It’s all backed by Samsung’s new ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI, which helps optimize photos and videos in real time. Even the inner selfie camera has moved away from under-display tech in favor of a more traditional punch-hole design, improving clarity and sharpness.

Under the hood, the Fold7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, delivering serious performance gains: a 38% faster CPU, 26% better GPU, and a 41% boost to AI processing compared to the Fold6. It comes with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, and runs One UI 8 based on Android 16. Samsung’s also promising seven years of software updates, which puts it right in line with other long-term Android players.
And yes, AI is everywhere. The Fold7 ships with tools like Circle to Search, Photo Assist, Live Translate, Audio Eraser, and new Writing/Drawing Assist features — all optimized for the larger foldable form factor. Samsung’s even added Gemini Live support, bringing Google’s most advanced AI model into the fold.
Battery-wise, you’re getting a 4,400 mAh dual-cell setup, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging, plus Wireless PowerShare for topping off earbuds or wearables. There’s still no S Pen support, likely a compromise to keep the profile ultra-thin, but that might not be a dealbreaker for most users.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 comes in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jetblack, and an exclusive Mint finish available online only.
