Insta360 is stepping deeper into the creator audio market with the launch of the new Mic Pro, a wireless microphone system packed with features aimed at filmmakers, streamers, podcasters, and content creators who want professional audio without the usual complexity.
The standout feature is something rarely seen in audio gear: a customizable E-Ink display built directly into each transmitter. Users can upload logos, names, channel branding, or production identifiers through the Insta360 app, allowing the microphone to double as both a production tool and a visual identifier on set. Unlike OLED displays, the E-Ink screen remains clearly visible outdoors and consumes very little power when showing static content.
Insta360 is also introducing a new three microphone array system that allows the Mic Pro to emulate different pickup patterns through software. Instead of relying on a single fixed microphone configuration, users can switch between omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure eight recording modes depending on the shooting environment. When mounted to a camera, the cardioid mode even functions similarly to a directional shotgun microphone.
The company is clearly targeting creators who deal with unpredictable recording conditions. AI powered noise cancellation runs through an onboard NPU chip designed to reduce wind and background noise while maintaining natural sounding vocals. Insta360 says the goal is to avoid the robotic or overly compressed sound common with traditional noise reduction systems.
One of the biggest upgrades is support for 32-bit float internal recording, which dramatically increases dynamic range and helps prevent clipped audio during sudden loud moments. Combined with 32GB of onboard storage per transmitter, the system can continue recording even if wireless interference or camera issues occur during production.
The Mic Pro also pushes beyond the typical two transmitter limitation seen in many compact wireless systems. It supports four transmitter recording setups and can distribute audio across multiple receivers simultaneously, making it useful for podcasts, interviews, weddings, and multi-camera productions.
Battery life is another major focus. Insta360 says each transmitter lasts up to 10 hours on its own, extending to 30 hours when paired with the charging case. A quick five minute charge can add roughly an hour of recording time.
The Mic Pro is available now starting at $329.99 for the two transmitter and one receiver kit, with additional configurations available through Insta360 and authorized retailers worldwide.
